Roger Israel first burst onto the scene as the Composer and Musical Director for a stream of 80’s musical theatre productions, staged back-to-back at the Little Carib Theatre in its heyday, with titles like “Cinderama”, “Sno Kone and the Seven Dwens”, “Mas in Yuh Mas”, “King Jab Jab”, “Rampanalgas Sunrise” etc. He went on to score a variety of stage and television productions, the most memorable being the 39 episodes of the original popular “No Boundaries” TV soap opera series. Roger’s strengths run a wide range of creative arts, which includes music, videos, sound engineering, art and even acting (he appeared with David Rudder in the series, “Sugar Cane Arrows”). Additionally, his weekly philosophical column, “I Thought You’d Never Ask”, appeared in the Trinidad Guardian from 1991 to1995. Nowadays, he can be found in his recording studio, Sidetrack Studios, where he produces music for a variety of performing artistes. Live appearances by Roger are now rare, although his easily recognisable voice and unique folk/pop style still grace the Station ID’s of Music Radio 97 and the occasional commercial jingle.
